 Product Description

The calling for a quiet and clean land has always been, and will always be, sung for-all the more so in a world of growing material wealth. It is an inherent part of our being that seeks a piece of the sacred. Travel the Land with the author as he seeks to look into himself/ourselves--our relationship with the world and the creatures we share it with. We would dance to the ring of the Profit Bell, mesmerized by its seductive allure. As we hacked and coughed in the smog that obscured the sun, as shunned the dirty waters of the stream that the fish fled from, and looked about the landscape of concrete and steel that made accursed the home of the buffalo and the wolf and the grizzly bear, we would chant: "The American dream is mine!" When all of creation groans in agony, their cries will not go unnoticed. Who has known the time of the visitation? For who has sand the song of just cause?

We have journeyed with Ingi as he goes from being a father of young children, then as they grow up and leave home and his stories refer more to his wife and dogs. In this book Ingi writes of how old has strangely become young, his vision of retirement, and even beyond to the Creator’s campfire. He also has journeyed from humour to contemplation. He tells us some secrets that are not really secrets of the moose and of the bear, and thoughts on global warming. A heart-warming tale of why trapping is important to him and how his trapline is a National Park that should be protected. The final chapter reveals his heart for First Nations. Illustration by Cindy, and Ingi makes his artistic debut.
